Our very first page - Thank You for visiting!

Shiny Shiny Lighting through the trees
This is my drive to work every morning
The Pier - an old site but still fresh in the momory!

Welcome to our first blog. This is something that I have been thinking about for sometime but like most people and put it off over and over again.  Well today in the South East of England the weather is back to the normal doom and gloom, the house is tidy, the sheets have been changed, Mr C is at work and I am home alone, except for the pooch.  How could I put it off any longer?

I have called the blog The Shiny Shiny Design Company after my love of all things shiny and the fact that if I had my own way I would have a shop on the High Street with the same name, as it is however I do, along with my hubby and eldest daughter make and sell things under the name.  These products range from our Shiny Shiny finds, to our little shiny shell butter knifes, to shiny lights through to shiny gloss chic tables and chairs.

My normal job however is teaching in a Secondary School.  A job I love to bits and will, I am sure, writes lots more about on here.  Hubby, Mr C, is a Pie Man, as in Simple Simon and knows all there is to know about the world of pies and cooking.  I have him well trained ladies (can I write that) as he has always cooked for us as a family.  My cooking is not the best, taking after my mother who could cook a mean apple pie and beef stew but would burn everything else including the pans and cooker. My eldest daughter does better in the kitchen than I and is an Interior Architect who has worked with a number of companies and clients.  She has promised to send lots of pictures, tips and ideas to us to get you in the mood to make changes to your own homes and lives.

Being new to this I am hoping that many of you will pass tips and ideas on to us.  I have been watching a number of blogs over the last few years and am surprised how ‘crafty’ many of us are.  From the fantastic card making blogs, cake making, yes I am going to post the cheesecake recipe that Mr C took for one of the bloggers ( I will never be thin at this rate), and the girls that can turn any piece of junk into something to oooh and arrrr over. Many of us have beautiful homes that have not cost thousands of pounds because we have had the know all of how to please ourselves – not what Mr Media says we should have in our homes.

I look forward to blogging with you all.

Kind wishes

Mrs C
